Network CTF
The Adelaide Uni CS Club will be running a network Capture The Flag competition, this will be on a seperate network for good reason.
There will be multiple servers running on the network which will be compromisable in some way shape or form. So your task is to find and exploit them, and for each service that you compromise you will be awarded points. So as to make it fair on anybody else who attempts the servers will be rolled back after a period of hours, so that users can start fresh.
More details to come soon.
Coding Comp
The Adelaide Uni CS Club will be running an AI contest. This contest will involve using your programming skills to write an Artifical Intelligence (a bot) to play a simplified version of a popular computer game. Exactly which game will be announced at the LAN.
The binaries and source code of the game simulator will be made available for download at the beginning of the LAN. The simulator will also have a human-player mode, so you can play the game even without writing any code. You will be free to play around with and modify the simulator as much as you want, and test out your AI on your local machine. Throughout the LAN, you can submit your scores for the game, and near the end of the LAN we will verify the submissions (so you can't just modify the source code to say score=9001
) and announce the winner. Contestents are free to spend as much or as little time on coding as they want, so long as they have made a submission by the time we start marking.
There will also be a contest to see who can make the best improvement on the simulator - we've provided the basic program, but our graphical skills aren't great x_x. So if you think you can make some sweet graphics and animations, this part of the comp is for you.
The source of the simulator will be written in Java, but the code you write may be in any language you choose. We will provide some code templates to make it easier to get started. We might even include some instructions for beginner programmers, so if your not a pro, you can still give it a go.
If time allows, we will also have a mini-contest involving writing some short algorithms.
Chess
There will be a chess tournament being run on the Sunday at 2PM, this is confirmed but will be posting more details soon.
